An app for the iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch, tumblr gear allows users to browse Tumblr posts on their dashboards while away from the computer.
Relatively easy to use, tumblr gear employs a one post per screen interface. You have the option to autoplay through each post at a steady rate or else manually flip from post to post. In addition, you can "like" and reblog specific posts in one click each through an option in a bar at the bottom of your screen. The preferences page also allows users to tweak a select few features, such as turning on the ability to view high resolution pictures.
Unfortunately, tumblr gear doesn't actually allow you to post any unique content of your own to your Tumblr page. One of the main draws to Tumblr is the ability to easily share content in a variety of different formats such as text, audio, and video; tumblr gear doesn't take advantage of any of this, greatly limiting its overall usefulness. People who primarily use Tumblr as a means to reblog others' content will probably put tumblr gear to good use in short order. Others might be left a little disappointed by the sparsity of posting options.
